SIDEKICK'S Grand Basset Griffon Vendéens
Grand Basset Griffon Vendéens (GBGV) are a medium sized, rough coated French hound with a rich history of over 400 years in Europe. They are still used today for their original purpose of hunting boar, roe deer and hare but are more commonly a wonderful companion. GBGV's are pack dogs that are happy with a confident disposition and pleasing personalities. Our primary focus is to preserve the integrity of the this noble French hound by making all efforts to protect the health, temperament and type for the benefit of future generations. As of January 4, 2018, GBGV's were approved by the AKC to move into the Hound Group.
In order to ensure the preservation of our bloodline and healthy puppies true to the breed standard, we employ responsible breeding practices including clearances from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, and Canine Eye Registry Foundation(CERF) certification of the eyes. We require this of all parents to be bred from within our facility or an associate breeder. This helps us to be free from any known hereditary disorders while breeding dogs with soundness and good temperaments
We have been involved in the sport of pure bred dogs for more than 30 years and we are not only involved in breeding, and showing our dogs in conformation at American Kennel Club sanctioned events, we are also founding members of the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen Club of America and are AKC Breeders of Merit.
